E-minister spins a good yarn as Minister for Clothes

An expert on cross-stitch - not so hot on ADSL

Is there no end to Patricia Hewitt's talents?

Not content with being the E-minister and leading the nation's crusade towards "broadband Britain" she's also the Textiles Minister.

Last week she launched a major report into the economic future of the nation and how super fast communications will propel Britain as a wired leader among the world's top industrial nations.

She stood firm(ish) under fire from journalists and a committee of MPs that BT was responsible for the tardiness in ADSL roll-out.

Today, she's talking about fabric. And clothes. And fashion.

Ms Hewitt has also published a report Government Support for the Textile and Clothing Industry to coincide with London Fashion Week.

Having fluffed her way through a Select Committee hearing on broadband last week, it's unlikely El Reg will trouble her for her thoughts on the future of ADSL.

However, if she'd like to give us an opinion on our Axeminister carpet we'll get the catwalk out. ®
