A slew of Windows XP news came in after Microsoft's conference, so I'll try to summarise it all in one paragraph and not bore you.

I won't even comment on the new (horri... err.) Windows XP UI, but to get a feel for it, you can look at Microsoft's Windows XP Web site which has some basic screenshots and spiel on how the UI was enhanced. Although the enhancements may look babyish, Paul Thurrott has a brief report with several other screenshots from the show itself.

While Bill Gates and Co. were out marketing XP, ActiveWin reports that Microsoft developers were hard out work trying to pump out Build 2428 of Windows XP. It made it to the FTP servers last night. Also, out of many comprehensive FAQs, ActiveWin has updated and answered many questions users may have about Windows XP and its future. Finally, Windows XP seems to be for us users, but what about hardcore developers? A tech article at MSDN talks about the new features within Windows XP and how software developers can take advantage of them.

It's always fun to play some tricks on fellow friends, co-workers, and family members. But it always seems kind of hard to perform them in Windows. LittleWhiteDog.com has posted a series of pieces called "Evil Tips and Tricks". Thanks to Todd T. Benore for sending in part one and part two of this piece.

There are always ways to tidy up a piece of software, especially something as bulky as Internet Explorer 5.5. WinMag.com has posted several tips to enhance and speed-up IE5.5 in a couple of easy steps. As the piece goes on, the tips get a bit harder and involve registry tweaking - so please back up your registry, it's all I'm asking for :-).
