Broadband squabble gets silent treatment

Oompah-pah, oompah-pah that's how it goes

The deafening slanging match that has raged for the last two days concerning BT's grip on broadband appears to have stopped.

As the deadline approaches for BT and Oftel to meet AOL UK's demands, there's still no sign of a settlement.

Yesterday, AOL UK and Freeserve were making more noise than an amped-up oompah band. Today, nothing.

Have AOL UK and Freeserve bottled it? Have they had their tantrum? Are they now sitting quietly embarrassed at the way they've made fools of themselves and looking for a dignified retreat?

Or are they now running silent before an all-out assault on the telco?

Who knows - but it's unnerving nonetheless.

Personally, we preferred the oompah band...®
