Le Freeswerve says sorry…

...for raising false hopes

Britain's biggest French ISP, Freeserve, has brushed off concerns that it is bodging the roll-out of its 24/7 unmetered Net access product.

Le Freeswerve won't say how many people received notification that they had successfully signed up to its AnyTime service - only to be told it was a mistake.

Talk about getting someone's hopes up only to have them dashed on the rocks of disappointment. That is cruel.

The grovelling email reads: "Sometime in the last couple of months you registered your interest in finding out more about our AnyTime £12.99 Internet access package.

"In the last few days, you may have received an email welcoming you to Freeserve AnyTime.

"This was sent in error by our subcontracted mailing house and was not an authorised Freeserve communication. Therefore, please disregard it.

"We confirm that you have not signed up to Freeserve AnyTime unless you have completed the online registration pages (including credit card details) in the last 10 days.

"We hope you will accept our sincere apologies and that this has not caused too much confusion or inconvenience."

A spokesmonsieur for Le Freeswerve admitted that the mistake had been made but added: "Freeswerve soon after issued the email correctly and the matter is now closed."

Quite right too. ®
