Californian patents thought process

Arron Rouse is equally depressed and nonplussed by Hugh Harlan's patent on the operation of code that mimics the human thought process:

Perhaps I hadn't been reading too much sci-fi after all :|

Mind you, I don't suppose patenting thought processes will lead to any patent infringements by our American cousins ;)

Steady on there mate. David Kelman, however, sees a business opportunity:

Okay, I want to patent 'code that causes disruption or dysfunction of an intended operation of a computer application, or a novel action not planned by the software application developers.' I figure with a patent on bugs, I could retire from the royalties from Microsoft alone.

Like it. Let's do lunch.
