Oftel chivvies up BT over DSL

Well, someone has to...

Oftel has intervened between BT and two rival telcos in a bid to break the deadlock concerning ongoing negotiations regarding the provision of broadband services.

Today's draft ruling finds in favour of Energis and Thus after they failed to reach agreement with BT about proposed DSL interconnection agreements with the monster telco.

Both Energis and Thus want to take their DSL services off BT's network at specified points and onto their own networks.

However, BT's current wholesale DSL service is an end-to-end product which does not enable network operators to use their own network infrastructure.

Talks between the parties failed forcing Energis and Thus to complain to the winged watchdog in September.®
