Intel has beefed up its server offerings with new 2, 4 and 8 way server mobos for Pentium III and Xeon processors, along with (almost) ready to run system units.

At the (relatively) low end is the STL2, which supports one or two Pentium III processors and features a 133 MHz system bus, six PCI slots (two of which are 64bit/66 MHz) and up to 4GB of ECC SDRAM support. Intel also has two chassis for the STL2, the SC5000 Server Chassis and SR2050 2U Rack Server Chassis.

The SBT2 supports one or two Pentium III Xeon processors, along with integrated Ultra160 SCSI, and advanced server management. The SBT2 can also use the SC5000 chassis, which provides redundant and hot-swap power supplies, support for up to 10 hot-swap drives, and an optional kit to configure as a 5U rack chassis.

Further up the scale are two new 4 way Xeon platforms, the SPKA4 and SRKA4. The SPKA4 comes standard as a pedestal server platform, but can be converted to a 7U rack-mountable configuration. The SRKA4, is a 4U rack-mountable server platform. Both feature a dedicated server management microprocessor and Intel Server Control (ISC) software along with Triple Peer PCI buses, Hot-Plug PCI, integrated Ultra160 SCSI, Video, Ethernet, and support for up to 16GB of SDRAM Memory.

At the high end is the Profusion-based SRPM8 supporting up to eight Pentium III Xeon processors, 32GB of ECC SDRAM memory, 64-bit/66MHz PCI slots, Hot-Plug PCI and advanced system management. It's packaged in a 7U rack mount chassis. ®
