UK rivals have started sniffing around system builder Carrera Technology following its application to the High Court for an administration order.

People who seem to be in the know about these things have said Mesh, Evesham Micros, and Hi-Grade are all interested in the business. Competitors are bound to be interested in picking up a bargain, but whether its one of these three remains to be seen. The companies wouldn't discuss it with us.

Administration is the closest thing the UK has to the US Chapter 11. Carrera's application will be heard tomorrow, Friday 13 October.

MD Colin Collier broke the news to staff yesterday about the company's position. All employees were told to act as though it was business as usual. The bloke I spoke to cheerily answered the phone: "Carrera sales - how can I help," so he seems to be doing a good job under the circumstances. ®
