The division of Honeywell usually responsible for making central heating controls has announced its made a wireless portable web access device.
The Honeywell Webpad Internet Appliance has a 10-inch LCD screen, weighs less than three pounds, and is less than an inch thick. It lets up to eight people connect to the Web from as far as 150ft away from a base station which provides the Internet connection. This is either via broadband cable modem or DSL.
The device will cost $995. It can either be used just for Net surfing and email, or you can combine it with Honeywell's Home Controller Gateway through which you can control your home's lighting, heating and security. ®
