LineOne forgets to turn off unmetered service

Greatly improved

Update Our thanks to ISP Review and other readers who alerted us a little oversight from LineOne/Quip - The ISP announced it was ending its unmetered access service from midnight Saturday - but then forgot to switch off its 0808 unmetered access number!

As of 1.35pm Sunday, the number was still working, although that won't last long judging from this message posted yesterday (Health Warning: today a senior community producer at LineOne disowned this email as a an "utter fake and removed quickly from our forums", which would suggest someone wanted to alert other LineOne customers to his or her good fortune.)

Hi,

We have noticed the 0800 Quip number still appears to be running. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and should have this resolved shortly.

Regards

Paula

What inconvenience? Apparently, the 0808 service improved immeasurably on Saturday, according to our reader John, who reports:

"The normal two hour cut-off seems to have stopped too, I've been connected for over three hours so far. What's worrying is this is reminiscent of the Friends episode where the boys have access to free porn and are scared to turn the TV off in case they lose it. I'm certainly not disconnecting until I have to (or until my ADSL is connected, whichever happens first)."

Update Two readers claimed Monday morning that they were still connected to LineOne's 0808 number. However, others trying to connect Sunday evening say they were unable to log on.
