Computex 2000 The little problems that First International Corporation (FIC) is currently having with chip giant Intel are not preventing the Taiwanese firm from promoting two Socket A motherboards to support the T'Bird Athlons and Durons which use the Via chipset.

FIC introduced two mobos: the AZ11 and AZ31, use the Via KT133 chipset and include support for 200MHz system bus, PC-133 SDRAM and AGP 4X.

The boards, according to FIC, are available now, and include the firm's Audio Alert features which we somehow managed to leak yonks ago.

Meanwhile, Inquest, a US market research firm, has suggested its own benchmarks for the VIA PM 133, released at Computex this week, will give both the 810e and the 815 a run for their money. Go here for more of that.

According to Inquest, there will be plenty more DDR chip sets to come, which will be announced at the upcoming platform conference. You can find details of that conference here. ®
