This is a old one, but we liked it so much. We also like the fact, since Mr Lauriano sent it to 46 people, it also counts as spam...

Subject: IT article goes political

I am writing to the staff at The Register located in the United Kingdom on behalf of 100 million American red-necks who are at least smart enough to use a computer. Were you something more than IT snoops who did not care what you printed, this email would be much longer. So I'll be brief.

I am, of course, referring to the article appearing on your web site, titled 'Ignorant American red-necks boost US Net economy'.

That you people would find the time to print this kind of nonsense reinforces our belief here in America that we should have left all of you to rot under the approaching imperial banner of Nazi Germany 60 years ago.

I guess it's not enough that we bailed your asses out twice in one century because this kind of disrespect will be remembered the next time the Hun appears at your doorstep.

Years after my grandfather served America in the First World War, I was dismayed to learn that he felt bitter towards the arrogance of "certain" European nations that they felt they had, in fact, much more to do with defeating the Kaiser than the Americans. The longer I live, the more I see this dismay turning into the same kind of resentment he felt towards our European allies.

I am glad my father killed Japanese in the Pacific -- rather than shed his blood on the beaches of Normany -- I don't hear too many people in the Pacific region commenting about ignorant American red-necks.

The next time we have to board the boats and planes to help clean up another European mess, undoubtably created by ignorant people who can't seem to get by a generation or two without starting a major war amongst themselves, I will remember to reconsider if ignorant American red-neck lives would be better off spending their time shopping online.

Sincerely,

Jay Lauriano
