A new industry forum has been created to oversee the global development of broadband services. Nortel Networks led a pack of some 30 companies in announcing the formation of the Broadband Content Delivery Forum (BCDF) which will focus on "recommending open architectures... over the emerging broadband networks and improve end user experience through enhanced performance and personalisation". AltaVista, BBC and BT are among the pack of companies that have already signed up to the forum. The organisers believe it is simply a matter of time before other content providers, service providers, wholesale access providers, networking outfits et al come to their senses and sign up as well.
