- Ideal Hardware is about to fall into the clutches of Ingram Micro. Sources claimed the US distributor was in talks to buy Ideal, InterX's distributor arm, with one describing the two companies as being in a "mating dance". Ingram UK denied any discussions were taking place.
- Arrow Electronics, Avnet, Ingram Micro and Tech Data are planning to bring their new joint trading hub to Europe. The venture was started in conjunction with FDX Corporation and Softbank - under the guise of Viacore.
- Computer 2000 is building a 400,000 square foot warehouse to add to its existing facility in Wellesbourne, Warwickshire. Computer Reseller News
- Microsoft and IBM are rowing over Windows 2000 product certification. Big Blue refused to send any of its 300 certification applications for the new operating system due to lack of interest from customers. In response, Microsoft has upped the certification standard for software running on Windows 2000.
- CHS Electronics former commercial director has re-emerged at License Online. Jan Lawford this week became UK VP for the US software licence distribution company.
- Online trading hub Hyperchannel is launching this week after signing Compaq as a backer.
- WStore is promising to match any rival's price, or refund double the price difference if users find the same product cheaper elsewhere.
- Datech 2000 will cut marketing development funds and reseller discounts on selected Autodesk products. The Computer 2000 division was accused of attempting to "get rid of low-end dealers" by one reseller.
- AGP Distribution has become the first distributor to sell Fujitsu Siemens motherboards in the UK. ®
