Welcome to Channel Flannel, The Register's round-up of some of the week's movements in the channel. 1 Feb 2000 Hypertec has trashed prices on all memory products by 20 per cent due to falling DRAM prices. The Berkshire-based vendor said it anticipated the first quarter of 2000 to be a busy trading period for memory.


Avnet ACC reported pre-tax profits of $32.7 million for the second quarter ended December 31 1999. This was up on $26.5 million for the previous year on sales up 38 per cent at $2.1 billion. After exceptional costs, pre-tax profit for the quarter was $15.1 million. This included $18.4 million connected with the integration of Marshall Industries – which it bought in October.


Computer 2000 is building a 400,000 square foot warehouse next to its existing facility in Wellesbourne, Warwickshire. The building will quadruple the distributor's warehousing space and expects to be up and running by the end of this year.


Ingram Micro has made three top-level changes to its European arm. Andre Maljaars, Vice President Benelux and export, is filling the newly created position of vice president of E-commerce. Alain Maquet, VP and MD Ingram Micro France, is now senior VP of Ingram Micro France, Benelux and Export. And Stephen Gill, VP Finance, has been promoted to senior VP and CFO. ®
