Journalists to meet in pub shocker

Free drinks from Computer Weakly hacks

Computer Weakly, the UK's best IT publication (Eh? -Ed), is stuck out in the wilds of Surrey on the 110th floor of the Ministry of Magazines, so can claim with some justification that it is somewhat detached from the throbbing heart of the Metropolis.

Indeed, after each new round of IT publishing mergers and takeovers, hacks working on newly-acquired London-based titles can be seen tying nooses, loading shotguns and reaching for large bottles of sleeping pills rather than move to Sutton. Now CW seems to have at last realised that the only way it can get in touch with reality is to stage a grand pissup in Central London and is inviting all its remaining readers to join them in a fully-licensed telephone booth for a free drink next month.

If you're really as desperate as Weakly's hacks obviously are, you can email them at cwextra@rbi.co.uk with a subject line of "3 Feb 2000" and they'll send you an invite. The Register holds high level strategy meetings in Mayfair pubs, at least twice a day, to which you are all cordially invited to bring your wallets. You know where we are. ®
