One of the students accused of cheating via email by Edinburgh University, is taking legal action to clear her name.

Earlier this month, The Register reported that 117 students were accused by the university of using email to swap answers to programming questions. Now, one of those accused, Henrietta Roe, is threatening to sue Edinburgh University in an attempt to clear her name.

She told the Daily Mail: "I have never cheated in my life and it feels awful to have been tarnished in this way."

The 20-year-old student, from north Devon, was in the first year of a maths and computer science degree. She, and 116 other students, were - allegedly - found out when examiners ran their exam papers through a cheat sniffer utility.

The students want the allegations removed from their records and an apology. ®
