K7 mobos start to appear

Gigabyte off the mark early

Computex Taiwanese motherboard manufacturer Gigabyte has formally announced support for a range of motherboards which will support the up-and-coming AMD K7 chip. The boards, Gigabyte said, will go into production int he third quarter of this year, and will optimise the K7 and AMD's chipset. The Slot A board will support an external 200MHz bus, Ultra DMA-66, and a maximum of 768Mb of synchronous memory, Gigabyte said. Asus is also showing a board with support for the K7 in private.®
