Sun is to buy remote access specialist i-Planet today, in a move intended to plug a hole in its Sun.Net scheme, which the company intends to roll out early next year. Sun.Net is intended to support single log-on access to corporate networks from diverse clients, anywhere in the world, giving users access via the Internet, i.e. 'WebTop' access. By accessing a personal WebTop, users are intended to be able to access the whole range of standard corporate functions, voice and email, data and applications, no matter where they are. Security is clearly vital, and this is where i-Planet comes in.
