Foxconn to take on 100 THOUSAND workers prior to iPhone 6 launch

Firm shifts production back home as Indian factory's future hangs in balance

Foxconn is preparing for the release of the iPhone 6 by embarking upon a huge hiring spree.

A report from Reuters indicates Foxconn, aka Hon Hai Precision Industry, is looking to expand its workforce by up to 100,000 people.

Production of the latest iPhone is due to begin next month, with the Taiwanese reports suggesting Foxconn will end up making 70 per cent of the total supply and Pegatron the rest.

These new numbers are a slight change from previous figures, which had pinned Pegatron's share of production at about 15 per cent.

The phone will go on sale towards the end of the year, probably in September judging by previous fruity form.

However, staff in India might not be so happy as Foxconn is pondering over making redundancies at its Indian factories.

Bosses at Foxconn India are currently locked in negotiations with union chiefs after putting forward a plan to shed 600 jobs.

Apple is anticipating huge demand for the iPhone 6, which is expected to come in 4.7 and 5.5 inch sizes to try and clobber Android phones with bigger screens.

All of which makes us ask the question: what else has Apple got planned? We're so bored of saying they've not designed anything new since Steve Jobs died.

But they still haven't. Yawn. ®
