EMC succession: You can't Tucci this
Joe's not going anywhere...
Joe Tucci’s time at the top of the EMC tree is not up for at least another two years, maybe more. Back in 2011/2012 there was a lot of attention paid to who would succeed him at the top of the EMC tree. All that has gone away.
Joe "Isn't life great" Tucci
Stifel Nicolaus analyst Aaron Rakers reports on EMC boss Joe Tucci’s employment arrangement via an EMC DEF14A SEC filing. He says: ”EMC’s filing reiterates that CEO Joe Tucci’s employment arrangement remains in place through at least February 2015.”
EMC is now a group of businesses, each with their own CEO: David Goulden for EMC storage, Pat Gelsinger for VMware and Paul Maritz for Pivotal. Because of this, it seems, the interest in who is the overall EMC CEO has dissipated from the time when Joe T ran the whole EMC show and had a set of could-be successors – the frontrunners being Gelsinger and Goulden.
Tucci doesn't seem ready to throw his hat in and could carry on for some time yet. ®
