PS4 with Black Friday underway: TOUGH, you CAN'T HAVE ONE!

If you didn't order it before 14 November, too bad, says Amazon

Amazon has dashed the festive dreams of kiddies across Britain after warning that anyone who plans to buy a new PS4 from the online souk will only receive it after Christmas.

The edict also applies to anyone who has already ordered the £349 games console after the cut-off date of 14 November. For Amazon has warned that only eager beavers who pre-ordered their console before then will get it ahead of the holdiay season.

The high street Herod, which has been receiving huge amount of flack recently following revelations about poor working conditions, did the same with the Xbox One, although the cut-off date for Xmas disappointment was 13 November.

Luckily, anyone who hasn't pre-ordered – and who doesn't mind facing the hordes in central London – can head down to Covent Garden where people are already queuing for a special midnight event.

Here's what Harry Maxwell, semi-finalist from the Young Apprentice, thinks about the queue:

As if standing out in the cold wasn't bad enough, people in the queue will be subjected to a performance by English rapper Tinie Tempah, who once claimed he "had so many clothes I keep some at my aunt's house" and expressed his desire to "be a bigger star than Prince Charles". They will also be given pizza and energy drinks, so there's literally no escape.

Fergal Gara, Sony's UK & Ireland managing director, said: "We really wanted to offer some way for people to buy on launch day, and this is a fantastic opportunity for anyone that hasn't already pre-ordered to get their hands on a PS4 on day one.

"The excitement in the run-up to our UK launch has been phenomenal, and we want to thank gamers for their support by giving them the chance to take a PS4 home at the earliest opportunity."

Next-gen console fever has gripped the UK in recent weeks, with Leicester Square turned into a celebration of all things Microsoft ahead of the launch of Xbox One.

Even the much-hated payday loan company Wonga has caught the bug. It is giving away an Xbox One and Playstation 4 to one (un)lucky person who decides to "Like" its Facebook page.

Look on the bright side, at least if you don't win you'll be able to borrow some cash to get a new wonderbox. Borrow the £350 necessary to buy a PS4 and you'll only have to stump up £108.31 in fees and interest if you pay it back within 29 days. Merry Christmas one and all! ®
