German Kim Jong-un lookalike spaffed official Nork pics over Instagram

A German teen with an uncanny resemblance to Kim Jong-un has been outed as the manager of an "official" North Korean Instagram account.

A North Korean news agency claimed that Moritz Ferdinand Arend Kotheder, an 18-year-old student from Stuttgart, ran the account, which featured retro-massaged propaganda images beamed over from Pyongyang.

The account-holder set the account up last year and is a self-confessed fan of Kim Jong-un, the pint-sized madman who runs the Communist nation.

On the site, he claimed to be a North Korean diplomat based in Germany, before he was outed as a Nork fan who simply ran official North Korean propaganda images through Instagram a few days after they were published.

The (allegedly) Teutonic teen explained to nknews.org, which is run from South Korea: "My curiosity evolved from my interest in international politics, socialism and Asian countries. I started the account, maybe because I wanted to fool people but also to let people around the world see another side of the DPR of Korea. This was and still is my motivation. I am the true and only owner of the account.

“In the very beginning it had another name and I did it just for fun, I was a big big fan of the DPRK and wanted to make other people become fans or supporters too."

The account, which clearly has the word "official" in its title, publishes images of the North Korean leader in action, as well as sporting heroes from the country.

Suspicions were raised when the account-holder said he used Instagram on a Samsung Galaxy smartphone, which is manufactured in South Korea. A picture was then posted of Kotheder with a Nork-style haircut alongside the words "official friend of the DPR of Korea". We have been unable to verify whether the account-holder is indeed Moritz Kotheder.

Then came a post which said: "For the Instagram account I asked a few higher-ranking people and they said everything that shows the world the real face of the great DPRK is good, but I’m not sure if it is totally allowed so this is maybe just a half official account.”

The account-holder was quoted as saying that although friends thought he was "crazy" for running the account, he would continue to do so.

He added: "I may plan to change the name of the account, if there is going to be trouble with the DPRK gov. But that’s the only reason I’ll change it, other reasons I will ignore.”
