HTC slaps Ice Cream Sandwich on 16 handsets

Droid and Desire to get upgrade, Flyer owners left out

HTC has started updating its devices with the next wave of Android - version 4.0 aka Ice Cream Sandwich - but only sixteen devices are in line for the upgrade.

As listed on the manufacturer's website, they include the HTC Droid Incredible 2, the Desire S and Desire HD, two EVO phones and four Sensation phones. Devices that don't make the Ice Cream handout include early HTC tablet the Flyer and the Desire Z, leaving several disappointed punters moaning in the comments.

Still there seems to be hope for the holders of other handsets, with HTC promising to continue carrier negotiations to get Ice Cream Sandwich on other phones.

The time frame on the roll-outs is vague. HTC says it is in the early stages of pushing the frosty sarnie to the Sensation and Sensation XE with upgrades more widely available in the next few weeks:

The update for the HTC Sensation 4G and HTC Sensation XL will follow. Please note, once we start pushing out updates it will take time for all carriers in each country to get the update.
