Apple iPad beats Amazon Kindle Fire in satisfaction survey

Fanboys happier than Fireboys?

iPad owners are happier with their tablets than folk with other fondleslabs are with theirs, recent research reveals.

The data comes from US-based pollster ChangeWave. It asked tablet owners last month how satisfied they were with their tablets. Some 74 per cent of iPad owners gave the Apple gadget the thumbs up, but only 54 per cent of Amazon Kindle Fire users were as willing to praise their machine.

ChangeWave's survey focused on those two machines, but the company did say that 49 per cent of punters with other brands of tablet said they were very satisfied with their device.

ChangeWave spoke to 2600 US consumers, though only a small proportion of them are tablet owners. For example, only six per cent - 156 folk - have a Kindle Fire.

ChangeWave said that it has found that a high level of satisfaction among existing owners is a good sign that a product will continue to sell well, largely thanks to the good word of mouth the gadget gets.

That's good news for Apple and - to a lesser extent - Amazon, not so good for their rivals. ®
