Quickflix adds Android with Samsung

A Galaxy of mobile TV

Samsung Galaxy slab-fondlers will soon get access to movies and TV shows, with IPTV aspirant Quickflix inking a deal with Samsung Australia.

As well as Galaxy Tab and Smartphones, the arrangement will see Quickflix stream movies and TV shows to Samsung’s range of internet connected Smart TVs and Blu-ray players.

Samsung consumer devices owners will be offered monthly subscriptions to watch both streaming and movies-on-demand. Quickflix content will now be available on the Google Android operating system for the first time.

The Samsung alliance will be commercial by the middle of this year and will include the range of content that Quickflix has rapidly amassing from Hollywood’s major studios including Warner Bros, Sony Pictures, and NBCUniversal and soon to be featured TV series and film from HBO. The Quickflix service will also provide premium pay per view titles for latest release movies and TV shows.

In October Quickflix secured a deal with Sony to begin streaming its subscription movie service via PlayStation3 by December. The deal was an extension of the agreement signed with Sony in July to begin streaming content via the Sony Bravia connected TV platform. ®
