Samsung pledges Galaxy Nexus audio glitch fix
Bug plaguing Android 4 phone to be squashed soon
Samsung has developed a fix for the spontaneous volume reduction bug that has hit early buyers of its Galaxy Nexus Android 4.0 smartphone.
The South Korean giant did not, however, say when the patch will be posted.
"Regarding the Galaxy Nexus, we are aware of the volume issue and have developed a fix. We will update devices as soon as possible," it said on Twitter today.
The Ice Cream Sandwich-fuelled handset went on sale in the UK late last week. Almost immediately buyers found the sound output would sometimes plunge to zero during calls.
The glitch was narrowed down by users to a result of the phone shifting to the 900MHz band for 2G communications and is exacerbated by low signal strength.
It is thought the glitch may lie behind Vodafone's reluctance to release the Galaxy Nexus on its network.
Vodafone has still not said when it expects to offer the handset. ®
