Apple updates MacBook Pro laptop line

CPU, storage boost for no extra money

Apple has upped the specs of its three MacBook Pro models while maintaining the previous models' prices.

Essentially, the upgrade involves bigger hard drives all round, plus faster CPUs, up either 100MHz or 200MHz, depending on model.

The 13in MBP has a choice of Core i5 or Core i7, while the 15in and 17in models are Core i7 machines through and through.

The larger two lines also gain upgrades to the discrete AMD Radeon HD graphics chips they contain: they now gain the 6750M or the 6770M, depending on model.

Prices run from £999/$1199 for the base 13in MBP - 2.4GHz Core i5; 4GB 1333MHz DDR 3; 500GB, 5400rpm HDD; Intel HD 3000 graphics - to £2099/$2499 for the top-end 17-incher - 2.4GHz Core i7; 4GB 1333MHz DDR 3; 750GB, 5400rpm HDD; AMD Radeon HD 6770M graphics with 1GB GDDR 5.

The Apple website shows all the models are in stock and ready for delivery. ®
