Retailer intros cut-price 10in Android tablet

Yours for £151 - for now...

Cheap 10in tablet, anyone? Aussie retailer Kogan - which also operates here in the UK - will have one out next month for 151 quid.

Not an inherently bad spec, either. 10in, 1024 x 768 capacitive touchscreen; 1GHz ARM Cortex-A8 derived processor; 512MB of DDR 3 memory; HDMI and USB portage; and a 2Mp webcam.

Corners have been cut, of course. There's only 4GB of storage, but a big Micro SD card will fix that. Wi-Fi is limited to 802.11g. And it comes with Android 2.3 Gingerbread rather than Honeycomb, let alone Ice Cream Sandwich.

Still, it's hard to argue with the price, even when delivery is £4 extra. Though the price is going up to £179 if you don't buy early, Kogan warned, without saying when it'll hit that point.

If the price is still too much at £151, Kogan has an 8in, 800 x 480 version for £121 - slowly rising to £139 - in the works. Both ship on 18 November, the company said. ®
