Cloud file tech finds Big Blue one in bed with it

Excited cries of joy at Nirvanix

IBM is OEMing Nirvanix cloud file storage technology, and catapulting Nirvanix into the front ranks of cloud storage service providers.

IBM's Jan Jackman, who is vice president of Global Cloud Services, provided a statement that could be framed and hung on every Nirvanix office wall: “Nirvanix’s cloud storage services offer the advanced, production-grade cloud storage capabilities that are built on experience with hundreds of enterprises. The company’s presence and strong adoption in leading Fortune 500 corporations makes its cloud storage technology ideally suited to IBM’s global customer base.”

Every Nirvanix salesperson will let out a whoop of joy. IBM will include Nirvanix cloud storage technology in its Cloud Smart Enterprise offering which is designed to enable customers to upload a file of any size from anywhere in the world and access it anywhere.

Scott Genereux, Nirvanix's president and CEO, said: “Today’s announcement marks an important step in accomplishing Nirvanix’s strategic goals of capturing cloud storage market share and accelerating revenue growth.” You don't say. Endorsements don't come much bigger. It could help kickstart enterprise use of cloud storage for unstructured file data.

Curious users can arrange to pilot the service here.

This blessing by IBM confirms NIrvanix's momentum and is a coup for Genereux and his team. ®
