Steve Jobs funeral is quiet family affair

'Small private gathering' on Friday, October 7

Always an intensely private person in matters involving his personal life, Steve Jobs' final event was also a private affair.

According to an unnamed source speaking with The Wall Street Journal, there was to be a small family gathering at an undisclosed time and place on Friday, October 7.

Jobs died on Wednesday, October 5. No cause of death has been disclosed, but Jobs revealed in an email to Apple staff on August 1, 2004, that he had undergone an operation to remove a cancerous islet cell neuroendocrine tumor from his pancreas. After that surgery, the prognosis was good, but his health visibly deteriorated in recent years.

In an email to all Apple employees on Wednesday, Apple CEO Tim Cook wrote: "We are planning a celebration of Steve's extraordinary life for Apple employees that will take place soon. If you would like to share your thoughts, memories and condolences in the interim, you can simply email rememberingsteve@apple.com."

No date for that celebratory event nor details as to what it might entail have yet been provided. ®
