Galaxy Tab Oz ban ruling due next week

Apple, Samsung wait with bated breath

The Australian court's ruling on Apple's injunction request against the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 in the country is now expected next week.

Federal Court Justice Annabelle Bennett had made no promises on the decision but said she would try to get it out as soon as possible. However Friday passed in Australia with no word on her ruling.

The preliminary injunction has become the focus of the case there after a peace offering from Samsung was rejected by Apple earlier this week.

Samsung had already made enough compromises to reduce Apple's patent claims in the case down to one when it offered some sort of unknown deal to sort the whole thing out.

Apple stood firm however, saying the deal, the details of which remain a mystery, gave no basis for settlement in the case.

The Apple v Samsung patent war is a sprawling global battle with fronts in a number of countries. So far though, it hasn't seemed to cause any serious damage to either opponent, with Samsung announcing healthy estimated earnings earlier today, boosted by smartphone sales, and Apple continuing to trade places with Exxon as the most valuable company in the world by market capitalisation. ®
