Stieg Larsson: Oxfam's number one best seller

Author most commonly given away in binliners is Dan Brown

The author Brits are most likely to hand to charity store Oxfam is Dan Brown - the man responsible for turgid Vatican romp the Da Vinci Code.

The charity's annual list puts Dan Brown in the top spot for the third year running. Climbing from eighth place to number three isTop Gear presenter and curly-haired clown Jeremy Clarkson.

Gratifyingly for Brown he is also number three on Oxfam's best-seller list, with Sophie Kinsella at number two and Stieg Larsson, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, is at number one.

Zombie botherer Stephenie Meyer, responsible for the Twilight plague, is another new entry - she's fourth most donated to Oxfam.

The charity sells books in most of its 685 shops and also has 140 specialist book shops.Many shops are holding events to support the charity's Bookfest fortnight.
