Facebook promises 'awesome' launch next week

Boydroid Zuck brewing fondleslab offerings?

Facebook could be launching long-awaited iPad and iPhone apps next week.

The company's founder Mark Zuckerberg told Reuters that Facebook would "launch something awesome" soon.

However, the boydroid, who this week reportedly signed up to Mountain View's latest social network effort Google+, declined to comment further.

Speculative reports suggest that Facebook's Seattle-based 40-strong team have created an app for Apple's iPad as well as an iPhone photo-sharing app.

Google, meanwhile, announced Google+ this week, which it is "field testing" with a small number of users.

Among the ranks invited to join the yet-to-be-finished product includes a very serious-looking Zuckerberg, according to Forbes.

Arguably, he's sizing up the would-be opposition, but given Google's track record with social networking, Zuck hardly needs to be overly concerned. ®
