Sony reveals DAB+ radio range

Retro receivers

Sony has introduced its first DAB+ radios, bringing forward the technology while rewinding time with design.

The Sony XDR-S16DBP is a retro-looking portable radio encompassed by a wooden body that delivers sound through two built-in 0.8W speakers. An compact LCD screen displays all the relevant information.

The Sony XDR-C706DBP is a clock radio with four separate alarm settings, a snooze button and sleep timer. It comes with a bigger LCD but only has an output power of 0.4W.

Both models feature ten DAB/DAB+ presets and a further ten FM presets. Unfortunately for us Brits, DAB+, which offers a wider range of channels and a more efficient clearer sound, isn't yet available and there's no scheduled date for its arrival. However it will get here eventually, so if you want to be prepared, the Sony XDR-S16DBP and the XDR-C706DBP are available soon. ®
