Microsoft cut 'n' pastes Office market boss into undisclosed role

Chris Capossela does truffle shuffle at Redmond

Microsoft has shunted Chris Capossela, who had been the company's marketing head of Office and other business software, over to a yet-to-be-announced "leadership role".

Up until yesterday, the senior Redmond veteran had been responsible for flogging the vendor's Office, SharePoint, Exchange and – most recently – Office 365 brands, among other Microsoft-stamped software.

Microsoft named Kirk Koenigsbauer as its new Office senior veep, according to GeekWire, which broke the story.

The company's business division boss Kurt DelBene declined to comment on whereabouts within the Microsoft empire Capossela, who has been at the company for 20 years, would spring up next.

DelBene simply said in an internal email to staff that "Chris [Capossela] is staying with the company, and his next leadership role here at Microsoft will be forthcoming." ®
