Freesat to get Channel 4 in HD

33 per cent more HD content from satellite TV network

Freesat viewers, you're going to get Channel 4 in all is HD glory two months from now.

The free-to-air satellite broadcasting brand said C4HD will join BBC One HD, BBC HD and ITV 1 HD in April, finally allowing it to reach the level of HD content already available on rival, terrestrially broadcast network Freeview.

Freesat claims more than 1.5m viewers. Freeview has more than 10m. Not that they're direct rivals: Freesat is often chosen because punters can't pick up Freeview in their area, so the two services complement each other as much as they compete.

Meanwhile, Pop channels NME and Bliss went live on Freesat yesterday. ®
