TomTom adds Star Wars voices to iPhone app

'Sir, the possibility of successfully navigating the M25 contraflow system is approximately 3,720 to 1'

TomTom has updated its iPhone satnav app, introducing support for the iPhone 4's high-resolution screen but more importantly allowing you to have Darth Vader read out your directions.

"He will join the M1 at junction five or die, my master."

If you fear the Dark Lord of the Sith's threatening tones will distract you from your driving, you can also select the fussy, worried voice of C3PO - "I've forgotten how much I hate automobile travel" - the calm wisdom of Yoda - "Turn left at the next junction you must" - or brash advice of Han Solo - "Tooling down the M6 ain't like dusting crops, boy".

Voices cost £3.49 a pop, and can be bought within the TomTom app itself. Version 1.5 costs £50 for the UK and Ireland, with prices ranging from £30 to £70 for other regions. If you already own the app, the update is free. ®
