Yahoo! search Bingified in US and Canada

Microsoft back-ends it

Yahoo! has completed its transition from an in-house search infrastructure to Microsoft Bing platform in the US and Canada.

Last week, the company said that it had begun moving its search back-end to Bing, and today, with a blog post, the company announced that the move is finished. "I am proud to announce that the transition of organic search between Yahoo! and Microsoft is complete," the post reads.

"With this week’s milestone behind us, Yahoo! will continue to drive technology innovation in the search experience to bring more value to users and advertisers alike. We are focused on creating rich, immersive experiences that foster serendipitous discovery for people across the Yahoo! network."

In a separate post, Microsoft said that other geographies will soon follow the US and Canada "in the weeks and months ahead." The companies are also working to move Yahoo!'s search ad infrastructure to Microsoft's AdCenter platform. This is still due for completion later this fall.

"As we have said all along, our primary goal is to provide advertisers with a quality transition experience in 2010, while being mindful of the holiday season," Microsoft said. ®
