Apple reminds Aussies they can buy iPhone 4s on Friday

Citizens of 16 other countries will be able to too

By the weekend, the iPhone Flaw - sorry, iPhone 4* - will be avilable to buy in 17 countries in addition to the five it's currently available in.

On Friday, 30 July, the handset will go on sale in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, New Zealand, Singapore, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

Apple didn't say how much it plans to charge for the phone in these countries, either in the handset's 16GB or 32GB versions.

The iPhone will be sold by local network operators and by Apple, which will probably offer the handset without a carrier lock, as it has now started doing here in the UK. ®

* Apple would like us to point out that all smartphones have their weak spots, for example a design that amplifies signal attenuation caused by bodily contact.
