Treasury pulls plug on Wiki-cutback site

The Treasury has pulled the plug on its website created to crowdsource suggestions for government cutbacks.

The site remains available but there are no longer any interactive features - if you have an idea for cutting government spending then you are invited to send them an email. The Treasury blamed malware attacks for the decision.

The unmoderated site struggled to stay up last week and the Treasury scrambled to remove offensive comments from it.

An almost grammatical statement on the site this morning warned: "the site has been the subject to a small number of malicious attacks so we have unfortunately had to pause on the interactive features for now, but we’re still keen to hear any further ideas you have, which we may publish at a later date."

Previously ideas for cuts would appear on the site for other users to vote for and comment on.

The coalition government's other Wiki-policy maker Your Freedom is faring better this morning after it also suffered bouts of downtime last week.

There is however an angry post on Your Freedom demanding an end to the government conspiracy of silence over communication with aliens.

It says: "Superior intelligences who exist outside of  commonly accepted reality have been observing & occasionally interacting with human beings for some time now. We demand that this government stop playing silly buggers with us & tell us everything they know on the subject." ®
