Think marketing

Apple has shifted three million iPads in 80 days - having sold its three millionth device on Monday.

Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO, gushed: “We’re working hard to get this magical product into the hands of even more people around the world, including those in nine more countries next month.”

The "magical product" goes on sale in Austria, Belgium, Hong Kong, Ireland, Luxembourg, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand and Singapore next month.

Apple sold a million magic boxes within 28 days of its US launch. The two million milestone was hit on 1 June.

Apple claims the tablet now runs 11,000 specific applications, with most of the other 225,000 apps, primarily designed for the iPhone, also working.
