Eset slips on Comdom to stop spam emissions

Slovak anti-virus firm Eset has acquired local anti-spam firm Comdom Software for an undisclosed amount.

Eset hopes the deal, announced Monday, will improve its pre-existing Smart Security security suite technology by allowing customers to be more priapic proactive in blocking junk mail. The move is part of a long-running industry trend towards the marketing of security suites offering anti-spam, personal firewall and anti-malware functions, rather than selling stand-alone junk mail blockers and anti-virus filters.

Comdom Software is Eset's second acquisition in two years following the 2008 purchase of Czech-based security services firm Setrnet. ®
