BI for real people: Information delivery today

A Reg live broadcast

Webcast When business intelligence (BI) technology first appeared on the landscape the image (and reality) we got was that it was a ‘big ticket project’ and ‘for the favoured few’. The idea of putting all your data in one place and running reports on it was fair enough, but for many, especially smaller businesses, the perception of traditional BI became one of an expensive way to find out what you did, some time after you did it.

However, the conversation and the reality - though perhaps not the acronym - have moved on. And, as you hopefully expect, we’re here to help you get to grips with the new business intelligence reality.

On May 20th at 11am we’ll be broadcasting live from our central London bunker with a webcast that promises to help you make sense of the new capabilities and demands of business intelligence in your organization.

In the moderators chair we’ll have The Reg’s own delightful Tim Phillips. He’ll be joined by Martin Atherton from Freeform Dynamics and Will Thompson from Microsoft. Between them, they’ll be looking at how business intelligence can support frontline decision making as it's happening by exploiting the information assets in our business.

The three of them will explore such questions as:

  • What matters in this more accessible and relevant way of thinking about business intelligence?
  • The tricks of providing accessibility, delivery and consistency.
  • The requirements on IT to gain a better understanding of different employee roles and their information requirements, so it can use its architecture, security and access management and data management capabilities to full effect.

As ever, this webcast will be tackled in The Register’s inimitable style – compelling, interesting and useful. If you’ve not tried one of our broadcasts yet we’d recommend you do. So at 11am on the 20th May, sit back and fire up your coffee for an hour of business intelligence insight.

If you can’t make the live event you can register today and we’ll let you know as soon as the recorded version is ready for your perusal. ®
