Berlin Phil to appear on Bravia internet tellies, says Sony

Sony has signed the Berliner Philharmoniker to provide classical concert performances to owners of internet-connected Bravia tellies.

Not that Sir Simon Rattle will immediately descend upon your living room with cellos, bassoons, kettle drums and all, but rather you'll be able to call up their performances on a TV - such as the KDL-EX703, reviewed here.

You'll also be able to view the performances if you have a net-connected Blu-ray Disc player, Sony said.

The BP's online channel is called the Digital Concert Hall, and includes performances dating back to the orchestra's of the 2008/2009 season. That's approximately 60 concerts in all.

That said, they're not free, and you'll have to pay to view. Individual works are priced from €3 (£2.55) while viewing a live concert will set you back €9.90 (£8.40). You can buy 30-day pass for €29 (£25) or a 12-month pass for €149 (£127). You register and pay at the BP website. ®
