Saga servers quiver for Cameron

Will webinar lead to website wobbles?

Staff at aged organisation Saga are all a-quiver this Friday in anticipation of a website meltdown when they start a live interview with Tory leader and grannies' favourite David Cameron.

A spokesman for Saga told The Reg: "We're planning for a big surge in visitors but it is difficult to know how big."

The interview has been publicised on saga.co.uk and newspapers and broadcasters are interested in picking up feeds, depending of course on what Cameron has to say.

But website support staff are concerned the site might struggle to stay up under the load of legions of blue-rinsed Cam-fans. We're hearing they're planning a move to a stripped-down version of the website in order to reduce server load.

Cameron is the first of the three main leaders to be interviewed - Clegg and Brown have agreed in principle but have yet to finalise a date.

He will be interviewed by Saga magazine's personal finance editor Paul Lewis and a web form is available for viewers to put their own questions.

The organisation has also created the Saga Generation Manifesto, based on 15,000 responses, which includes demands for better, safer streets, more bobbies on the beat and more old folk on telly and in Parliament.

Saga campaigns for the over-50s as well as selling holidays, insurance and health services to older Brits. It uses the rather brilliant strapline: "Doing things properly".

Instead of helping crush Saga's front page you can see the interview and post your question via this link, from 6 till 7pm.

All three interviews are being run by consultancy markettiers4dc.com. ®
