Tesco store bans shopping in pyjamas

The Tesco branch in Cardiff's St Mellons has clearly had enough of barefoot shoppers wandering the aisles in their pyjamas, and has ordered customers so dressed to cease and desist.

According to the BBC, the store has posted a "customer dress code policy" notice reading: "To avoid causing offence or embarrassment to others we ask that our customers are appropriately dressed when visiting our store (footwear must be worn at all times and no nightwear is permitted)."

Mercifully, a Tesco spokesman told the Beeb that the store was merely addressing the evidently serious St Mellons pyjama shopping problem*, and wasn't considering extending the ban to keep out other scruffy-arsed riff-raff who might also lower the tone of the establishment.

He said: "We're not a nightclub with a strict dress code, and jeans and trainers are of course more than welcome." ®
