Vodafone: No HD2 for you!

Just for business use now, alright?

Vodafone will continue selling the HD2, just not to ordinary people like you and I - apparently it's a business phone now.

Having told us on Friday that it wouldn't be ordering any more HD2s from HTC, the operator has now clarified its meaning by explaining that the HD2 will continue to be available to business customers, but it's not appropriate for hoi polloi.

Vodafone customers had reported being told differing stories by the company - including problems with reliability and deliveries, but it seems those problems either don't apply to business customers or don't exist at all.

That fits in well with our impression that Vodafone wants to highlight its 360 handsets from Samsung, those being targeted exclusively at the consumer market. It leaves Vodafone with the option to supply HD2 handsets to those important enterprise customers who would never have been interested in an H1 anyway.

So if you're not among that august number you'll have to look elsewhere for an HD2 - Expansys has it listed at five hundred quid unlocked, or £150 with a T-Mobile connection. ®
