Sweep Panorama coming to Sony's robotic photographer?
Firm working on 'next generation' models
Sony has hinted that its upcoming Party-shot robotic photographer may soon be upgraded to support its Cyber-shot cameras' funky Sweep Panorama shooting mode.
Sweep Panorama would help the IPT-DS1 snap wide landscape pictures, automatically
Party-shot – also known as the IPT-DS1 – currently only enables single still images to be automatically snapped in whatever direction it happens to be aiming the camera. The dock is able to pan through 360° and tilt by 24°.
But dock Sony’s HX1 bridge camera - reviewed here - or the TX1 Cyber-shot into the IPT-DS1 and you won’t be able to take advantage of either model’s real-time Sweep Panorama mode – used for capturing super-size horizontal or vertical landscapes.
All that could be about to change, though, Paul Genge, Technical Field Sales Manager at Sony UK, today hinted to Register Hardware.
“We are looking at lots of options for the next generation of IPT-DS1 and one of them is Sweep Panorama,” he said.
The IPT-DS1 – in its current state – will be available next month, priced at £139 ($158/€231). ®
