Logitech updates network music player with touchscreen

Squeezebox 3 reborn as Touch

IFA The old - and much loved - Squeezebox 3 - has been revamped by new (ish) owner Logitech. Now called the Squeezebox Touch, it sports a touchscreen.

Logitech's Squeezebox Touch: press to play

The network music player now gets a USB port and an SDHC card slot allowing you to enjoy content that's not on the network. Presumably, Logitech's thinking of photos recently snapped on your camera - the Touch's 4.3in display makes a good digital picture frame too, the company seems to be suggesting.

There's no TV output - just analogue and digital stereo audio. There's a 10/100Mb/s Ethernet port on the back - and 802.11b/g inside - for reaching out to your music server.

Well connected

Logitech didn't go into the Touch's technical details, so we don't know if it retains the 24-bit Burr-Brown digital-to-analogue convertor responsible for its predecessor's rather good sound quality.

The price has gone up a bit though, to £259/$300/€299. It'll go on sale in December. ®
